Job Summary

T he Strategy & Analytics Consultant helps Southwest deliver on our Purpose by leading and conducting research and analysis intended to understand Southwest Airlines operations and provid ing ideas to develop, enhance, and improve performance. This Consultant a pplies analytical, technical skills , and business/operational knowledge to lead the T eam in solving business problems. They d emonstrate a deep understanding of the interaction between different areas within the C ompany , and they’re capable of visualizing cohesive strategies that can be executed across multiple T eams. This role u nderstands data sets, business concepts , and operational processes while being capable of preparing and presenting the T eam’s work to Senior Leadership.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities:
Provide the research and analysis of trends while helping the development of new strategies, processes, tools and reports

Involved in understanding, improving and sharing available data sets with other teams within the business

Leverage his/hers and the team’s technology skills (SQL, Alteryx, Python, R, Tableau, Big Data Concepts) and business knowledge to provide answers to business requests

Transform raw data into easily understood, presentable, and actionable findings

Involved in the development and improvement of models and processes including supporting their downline implementation

Facilitate and share technical guidance on principles and topics to groups around the business

Conduct analysis using optimization and other available tools to create and compare scenarios offering insights into how different ideas perform

Utilize appropriate data management procedures including privacy standards.

Ability to perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of Southwest Airlines operations

Knowledge of SQL (Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL)

Highly skilled in attention to detail

Skilled in taking initiative, demonstrating ownership and accountability

Skilled in continuous improvement and complex problem solving

Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to teach data, tools, techniques and business knowledge to junior team members

Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple tasks working as a team player with little supervision

Ability to interpret data, draw implications and adjust the analysis approach as required

Ability to clearly communicate complex principles like schedule design elements, work rules and business processes to all audiences both verbal and in writing

Ability to develop and deliver presentations to large audiences including senior leadership

Ability to present to a critical audience and handle situations with conflict

Ability to comprehend and manage optimization software and any other available tool to interpret results and create iterative processes for improvement

Ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information

Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of organization, philosophies, and procedures around the different areas involved in the operation Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
Network Planning or Airline Operations
Data collection, applied statistics, business analysis, and presentation
Microsoft Office Suite. Expert Excel and Power Point skills
Proven expertise in presenting to Senior Leaders
Alteryx or other data manipulation software
Tableau or other data visualization software
Licensing/Certifications

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $102,500 - $113,900 per year * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
